Job Summary |
Responsible for the design, engineering, specification, and lifecycle support of instrumentation and control systems. Handles instrument selection, sizing, and documentation across full project phases from FEED through to commissioning and handover, with integration into PLC, DCS, SCADA, and safety systems.
Job Description and Responsibilities |
- Select, size, and specify field instruments including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters, switches, and elements.
- Develop instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, instrument index, I/O lists, hook-up drawings, and installation details.
- Ensure instruments are correctly integrated with PLC, DCS, SCADA, and SIS/ESD systems.
- Develop calibration strategies and inspection and test plans (ITPs) for instrumentation packages.
- Participate in HAZOPs, SIL assessments, and functional safety reviews as instrumentation discipline lead.
- Prepare and review supplier data, vendor documentation, and technical bid evaluations.
- Coordinate with process, automation, electrical, and project teams throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Execute or support FAT, IFAT, SAT, and pre-commissioning activities for instrumentation systems.
- Provide troubleshooting, diagnostics, and technical support for installed instrumentation during operations.
Basic Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, Control Systems, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of instrumentation engineering experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, or industrial projects.
- Proficiency in developing instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, I/O lists, and hook-up drawings.
- Familiarity with IEC and ISA instrumentation standards.
- Experience with HART, Foundation Fieldbus, and Modbus protocols.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES |
- Proficiency in instrument sizing tools and datasheets for all major instrument types.
- Strong knowledge of loop diagram development and I/O list management.
- Experience with HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Modbus, and industrial communication protocols.
- Understanding of functional safety standards (IEC 61508, IEC 61511) for SIS integration.
- Technical bid evaluation and vendor assessment skills.
