Job Summary |
Responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low voltage (LV), medium voltage (MV), and power generation and distribution systems. Works across switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS, circuit breakers, protection relays, and associated power infrastructure to ensure reliable and safe power supply in industrial environments.
Job Description and Responsibilities |
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LV and MV electrical systems including switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, and distribution panels.
- Maintain and test power generation, distribution, and utilisation equipment including generators, UPS systems, and power control panels.
- Perform protection relay checks, insulation resistance testing, continuity tests, and high-pot testing.
- Execute safe switching operations and enforce lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during energization and outage activities.
- Read and interpret single-line diagrams (SLDs), protection coordination studies, and technical documentation.
- Support substation energization, commissioning, and decommissioning activities.
- Perform load management and power quality monitoring activities.
- Respond to and restore emergency electrical faults and system breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate test records, switching logs, and maintenance documentation.
Basic Qualifications |
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or Energy Systems.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in LV/MV operations and maintenance or power system maintenance in an industrial plant, substation, or utility environment.
- Valid electrical safety qualifications and certified competency for MV switching operations.
- Knowledge of protection relay testing, energization procedures, and outage planning is required.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES |
- Proficiency in LV and MV switchgear operation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of protection relay testing and co-ordination principles.
- Experience with generators, UPS systems, and power distribution equipment.
- Ability to read SLDs and protection documentation.
- Certified competency for MV switching and HV operations (preferred).
- Strong understanding of electrical safety, LOTO, and switching authority procedures.
